Farmhall Aviation Training makes available a number of tests and examinations. These are typically, but not exclusively, multiple-choice and are intended:
- To assess the students' understanding of a topic before tutition begins. These so-called Threshold Knowledge Tests cover topics with which the students should be familiar from their Private Pilot training. It must, however, be recognised that for many students the Private Pilot training was some way in the past and for others many topics were never fully understood. These tests provide the instructor with the tools to probe the depth of understanding of the class and to provide remedial instruction where necessary.

- To assess the students' gain in understanding at the end of the course. Although generally formatted as multiple-choice questions, these end-of-course examinations probe somewhat deeper than the Transport Canada written examinations. They allow the instructor to assess any remaining weak areas in the students' understanding.
